The Importance of Summer Camp

The Importance of Summer Camp

After two years of COVID-19 restrictions and limited social contact, KC Parks summer camps return to normal with enhanced activities, inclusive programming, and increased registration capacity.

Give your child the opportunity to make new friends, enjoy new experiences, and reduce their screen time at KC Parks summer day camps. For the past couple of years, many children have attended school remotely and avoided extensive interaction outside of their household. As society finally reopens, summer camps play a vital role in assisting kids with sharpening their social skills and developing authentic connections in situations they may have been missing for quite some time.

This year, Kansas City Parks and Recreation summer day camps are offered at eight locations throughout the city and provide an affordable, fun, and safe summer outlet for youth ages 6-13. The camps are particularly helpful to working parents because they run from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Inclusivity is paramount to KC Parks. New this summer, we are offering an Inclusion Camp option to provide recreation opportunities that welcome, accommodate, and successfully include children of all abilities. This camp will take place at Marlborough Community Center in South KC.

Enroll  your child in a KC Parks summer camp and ensure their continued growth~ emotionally, physically, and socially.

Registration Opens March 14>>
