When you think of Starlight Theatre, images of summer musicals and concerts come to mind. But this February, Starlight is shaking things up in Swope Park. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Starlight is staging its first-ever winter season musical, 50 Shades! The Musical Parody.
This sexy satire of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” phenomenon premieres in Kansas City at Starlight – indoors and under cover – for eight performances Feb. 10-15. Each show will comfortably seat 500 guests in the theatre’s climate-controlled stage house.
50 Shades! The Musical Parody has been rousing audiences across the country with its satirical look at the storied relationship between Christian Grey and Anastasia Steel, as seen through the eyes of a trio of girlfriends at a book club meeting.
Starlight will offer evening performances all six nights (including Valentine’s Day!), and matinees are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets start at $35, and self-parking is free. VIP ticket packages, which include a premium seat, complimentary valet parking, a show CD and post-show meet and greet with cast members, are also available for purchase.
Whether you’re coming with a group, friend, spouse or significant other, arrive early to mix and mingle before the show in Starlight’s Applause Club. Signature cocktails and desserts specially prepared by Starlight’s newest partner, PB&J Catering, will be available for purchase.
