GoKC_assets_colorOn October 11, 2017, the Paseo Gateway Intersection Redesign will be revealed followed by a Design Workshop for the Monument that will be located at the intersection. The City of Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation department invites you to join your neighbors and be the first to view the design and join in the workshop for the gateway monument.

The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. and be held at the Butterworth Alumni Center on the Kansas City University campus, 1750 Independence Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64106. Parking is available in Lots C, D, E, and G if needed.

PART 1 – THE REVEAL
The first part of the meeting will reveal the preferred alternative for the Paseo/Independence intersection.
The intersection redesign is a welcoming gateway to the Northeast and Downtown that will:

  • Reduce crashes at the intersections of Paseo Boulevard and Independence Avenue
  • Provide a safer and improved experience for motorist, pedestrian and bicycle travel
  • Improve public transit access

PART 2 – MONUMENT DESIGN
The second portion of the meeting will be soliciting input into the design of the Gateway Monument which will welcome people to this newly designed entrance to Kanas City. Participants will have the opportunity to work in groups with fellow residents to shape the vision and goals for what the monument will look like.

These improvements follow the City’s efforts towards implementation of the Paseo Gateway Transformation Plan completed in 2013.
