Lock your love on the old Red Bridge in Minor Park! The placing of love locks is a custom whereby couples affix a padlock to a bridge, fence, gate or similar fixture, so pronouncing their unbreakable and everlasting love. Love locks are an international phenomenon that has reached Kansas City.
Locks began appearing on the old Red Bridge the week before Valentine’s Day and have already resulted in at least one proposal. Congratulations to Jason and Brandie on your engagement! Love locks can be placed on the bridge anytime of the year and are a great way to commemorate an anniversary, engagement or wedding.
You can even get a custom engraved lock (like the one pictured above) at Lock-itz. PLUS, if you order before the end of February, they will contribute 20% of the sale to Kansas City, MO Parks and Recreation programs. Thank you Lock-itz!
The old Red Bridge sits adjacent to the new bridge located on Red Bridge Road between Holmes and Blue River Road in south Kansas City. While you are out there, take a walk on the new Red Bridge and learn more about the history, trails, and pioneers who influenced the development of the area.
