The City of Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation Department is asking for the public’s help in taking care of our Parks. There continues to be graffiti, illegal dumping, litter, and damage caused by driving in the grassy areas to our Parks.
Recently at Indian Mound Park, located in the northeast part of City, a pickup driving on the property has caused thousands of dollars of damage. VIDEO>>
KC Parks Director, Terry Rynard says this is an ongoing problem, “Our open spaces are invaluable, especially during this pandemic. This senseless crime impacts the entire community.” This most recent incident at Indian Mound Park is not the first in this area. Just a few weeks ago another vehicle knocked over a picnic table and destroyed a barbeque grill.
During this pandemic, KC Parks is experiencing a huge increase in activity in our parks and with that comes greater volumes of litter everywhere. We continue to ask everyone to help clean up after themselves and help pick up trash when they can. KC Parks has more than 221 Parks and miles of trails. We are asking everyone to help take care of these spaces that belong to all of the community.
