What do teachers, digital marketers, engineers, coaches, executive assistants, social media specialists, dental hygienists, salespeople, commercial real estate account managers, personal trainers, nurses, retirees, and students all have in common? If you said they are all women – you’d be correct. But that’s not the answer…
…If you said they are all representing Kansas City in the upcoming U.S. Figure Skating Synchronized Skating National Championships – YOU’D BE RIGHT!
The KC Illusion Adult Synchronized Skating Team recently earned the pewter medal (4th place) at the 2022Midwestern Sectional Championships and qualified to compete at the U.S Figure Skating Synchronized Skating Championships (Nationals). “This has been a goal for our team for the past six seasons,” explained coach, Kameryn Furman. “Not only are we the first team from Kansas City to qualify for Nationals, but it will be the first Nationals for 16 of our 19 athletes. We are so excited to share the magic of Nationals as a team!”
“Collectively we have 10 children with one on the way,” shared Sara Anderson who is an athlete-mother. “We are moms, aunts, professionals and now, National Athletes. It is our dream come true!”
These athletes are looking forward to training hard throughout February and have set a points goal that would exceed their all-time highest score. If you are interested in following the KC Illusion Adult Team’s training and Nationals journey, please follow them on Instagram at @synchrokcillusion.
