Statement from Parks and Recreation Director

Statement from Parks and Recreation Director

I hope everyone in the community is continuing to enjoy our warm fall weather and our public open spaces including Kansas City’s numerous beautiful parks

We encourage you to continue to enjoy our 12,000+ acres of parkland. However, please continue to follow the guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and our Kansas City, Missouri Health Department. Although we have issued permits for events, it is only when the event organizers have presented a plan that meets the CDC guidelines. If you witness people who are not wearing masks properly or who are not social distancing at events, we encourage you to stay safe and stay away.

The health and safety of our community depends on each of us doing our part: Wash your hands regularly, stay home if you’re feeling unwell, make sure your mask covers your mouth and nose, stay at least six feet away from other people, and please clean up after yourself when using our parks.

Please use our parks wisely and safely.
