Chouteau Fountain Sculpture Unveiling March 6

The first of four sculptures to be installed at the Chouteau Heritage Fountain will be unveiled in the Rotunda of City Hall on Wednesday, March 6 at Noon. Renowned sculptor, and Kansas City resident, Kwan Wu has been commissioned to create the magnificent, larger-than-life sculptures for the fountain. He will also be on hand for the unveiling.

The fountain honors the founder of Kansas City, Francois Chouteau, and the Native Americans who lived and traded in the area. It will be located in the Northland, on the west side of Chouteau Parkway south of Interstate 35 and north of Parvin Road, nestled along the Chouteau Greenway near the Chouteau Rain Gardens.  The fountain will be a permanent monument that recreates the river bluffs where Rock Creek and the Missouri River converged.

The Chouteau Fountain Founders continue to seek donations for fountain design, installation and endowment. For more information, visit kcfountains.org.
