Now is the time to make your plans to attend the 2018 Ethnic Enrichment Festival! The Ethnic Enrichment Commission and KCMO Parks and Recreation Department are partnering again to produce this “must attend” event. The third full weekend in August is the traditional date for the Ethnic Enrichment Festival, and we are excited to be celebrating our 39th anniversary this year. On August 17, 18, & 19, 2018, Swope Park will come alive with colors, aromas, and sounds of countries from all over the globe. We will have over 65 countries participating via food, crafts, singing, dancing, or other cultural events. With a special tent for kids and an International Beer Tent for adults, there is something for everyone. Over 45,000 visitors usually attend during the three-day weekend.
Although the entire Festival is a magnificent sensory experience, the major highlight of the weekend for the Commissioners is the traditional and glorious Parade of Flags at 4 pm on Saturday, August 18. Ethnic entertainment changes each half hour, 6 more spots have been added this year by starting the Festival an hour earlier each of the 3 days. The always fun Fashion Show will be at its traditional time on Sunday, August 19, at 2 pm. Check the website for more information: www.eeckc.org.
