History: In every city of the world, there is one place which is reserved for events of great importance.  This civic shrine, sometimes sacred, sometimes patriotic, often both, holds a special place in people’s hearts.  In Kansas City, this shrine, a city’s symbol of honor and respect, is the world-famous Liberty Memorial, located on a commanding height dominating PennValleyPark.

The Liberty Memorial was dedicated “in honor of those who served in World War One in defense of liberty and our country.”  It remains today as this nation’s only major memorial and museum specializing in the Great War of 1914-1918.
