Bonsai Society of GKC Free Exhibit and Demonstration Workshop

On Saturday July 21st, the Bonsai Society of Greater Kansas City will host a Free Exhibit and Demonstration Workshop at the Loose Park Garden Center.
In the Rose Room there will be an exhibit featuring member’s trees. Society members will be on hand to answer questions about the display as well as general membership inquiries from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The Fern Room will host an ongoing workshop, where the general public can visit with members working on their trees. This will be a casual event. You are invited to sit and relax while you watch and ask questions about the process or come and go throughout the day.
Upstairs, in the Library, there will be a powerpoint presentation at 1:30 p.m.: An Introduction to the Ancient Art of Bonsai. This presentation will provide a general overview on Bonsai, the Japanese art of miniature potted trees. Topics will include the origins, classification of Bonsai styles, tools, general horticulture procedures, pot selection and the design process. We will wrap up the presentation with a review of styles using slides featuring examples of various tree designs and species used in this unique art. There will be opportunity for questions and answers. Following the talk, and for those interested, a guided tour of the exhibit will be provided.
